Waste tips of Parkend Colliery.

This
photo shows the extensive waste tips associated with Parkend Colliery
in the background, the "New Road" runs in front of the houses
in the foreground..
The tall chimney and buildings on the right are at Parkend Castlemain.
The Houses in the foreground were built on the old Parkend ironworks
site.
Parkend Colliery stopped raising coal
in 1929, although Castlemain shaft was kept open until 1944 to service
New Fancy - Severn and Wye Railway, Volume 1, Pope How and Karau 1983.
