Solomon Pockett 1852-1925.

Jo wrote (May 2006): "Solomon Pockett 1852-1925 This is a photo of my paternal great grandfather who, at the time of his death lived at 27, Mount Pleasant, Lydney. The Lydney Observer stated that he was ‘born at Arlingham and was of a family, all of whom belonged to the Severn coal carrying trade from Lydney and Sharpness to Bristol Channel ports. He was therefore very widely known among watermen, and the spirit of comradeship was so largely writ in his personality that everyone esteemed him, and his tragic decease came as a great shock to them".
The photographer's name on the photo is H.A. Blake, 58, Baldwin St., Bristol.
Brian Hardyman added (September 2020): "... My grandfather, John William Pockett was also born in Arlingham in 1883. He worked for Thomas Silvey on the 'Willi' carrying coal".
